As part of our year-long role as a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Ambassador in Surat, Kamakhya has actively collaborated with the government to promote menstrual health, hygiene, and dignity across all sectors. One of our core initiatives includes conducting awareness sessions and medical camps for policewomen, SMC health workers, inmates in correctional facilities, and sanitation staff. These sessions focus on menstrual hygiene management, reproductive health, and personal well-being, while the medical camps provide access to gynaecological check-ups, pathology screenings, and general consultations—offering holistic health support to frontline workers.
Another key area of our work is Training of Trainers (TOT) for ASHA workers, who are deeply rooted in their communities. By equipping them with accurate information and communication skills, we empower them to educate and sensitise rural populations about menstruation and hygiene practices. These grassroots health workers act as critical change agents, ensuring that menstrual health awareness reaches even the most remote and underserved areas.
To promote both sustainability and self-reliance, we also offer semi-skilled training programs where women learn to make their own reusable cloth pads. This initiative not only encourages the adoption of eco-friendly menstrual products but also provides women with an opportunity to develop income-generating skills, helping them gain confidence, financial independence, and a sense of empowerment within their communities.
