Period Yodha – Stitching Dignity, One Pad at a Time

Period Yodha is an initiative by Kamakhya India that empowers rural women to create with purpose. What began as a mission to promote sustainable menstruation has grown into a vibrant livelihood movement—where conversations break taboos, stitches build futures, and discarded fabric finds new life.

“When women work together, change isn't stitched—it’s handcrafted.”

At our Livelihood Centre, women from nearby rural communities are trained in tailoring, stitching, and menstrual health awareness. Beyond skill-building, the centre offers them a supportive environment to grow as individuals—emotionally, socially, and economically. Women learn to make reusable cloth pads and other useful fabric-based products, gaining not just an income but also pride and purpose in their work.

“It’s not just a centre. It’s a space where confidence is cut, stitched, and worn with pride.”

What do we make?

Our women artisans create a growing range of sustainable, upcycled, and handmade essentials, including: Reusable cloth pads, Pouches in various sizes and styles, Pain relief packs filled with natural grains, Bookmarks, envelopes, and travel tags, Roti cloths, aprons, vegetable bags, Lingerie bags, potlis, hygiene kits, and more

“Not just products, these are stories — stitched by hands that now earn, express, and lead.”

Where do we source our materials from?

The magic begins with what others call waste. We use 100% recycled cotton and leftover fabric scraps, mostly from our own cloth pad production, and from donations by responsible textile partners. Every piece of fabric is rescued, repurposed, and reimagined into something useful and beautiful.

“What was once waste is now a source of income, purpose, and pride.”

Where do our products go?

Our cloth pads and upcycled products reach people through: Direct online orders across India. Awareness and donation drives in marginalised communities. Collaborations with NGOs and impact partners. Exhibitions, pop-ups, and ethical gifting initiatives. Whether it’s a pouch, a pain relief pack, or a menstrual hygiene kit, every item you buy helps support a woman’s journey toward independence.

“Every product supports a livelihood. Every purchase powers a purpose.”
